Hi everyone. I have Alcatel omni switch 6400 for the metro ethernet and I connect it to my Procurve Backbone to connection. But my f4 port on the Procurve give me the spannig tree error and I search the problem and I did the command which is below and it is solved but the problem is now Spanning Tree Protocol (stp) is disable now and I don't want to it. What is your solution for stp enable also protect the Procurve from the loop. I don't have authorization for the Alcatel switch so I can't do something on it. Thank you very much..

Procurve--->>spanning-tree f4 bpdu-filter

What spanning-tree error?
What version STP is the Alcatel using?

You have two choices: either add the ALcatel to your STP topology, by making sure they are inter-operating properly, or block BPDUs as you have done.

In the latter option, you can enable loopprotect on the Procurve.

Where you've written "xyz", is it the same single VLAN that is going up and down all the time?

What makes you think this is an error?

Where is this VLAN extended on your network? ie, what physical ports is it extended to?

What is the status of the physical port connecting to the Alcatel?

Hi Vince. Sorry for delay. I have solved the problem it was my mistake and now it is working. I did the same configuration on the procurve. It was; spanning-tree f4 bpdu-filter but I changed the port. So now it is working.Thank you very much for your helping.
