HPE Oneview Synergy - Missing Server Hardware in Server Profile

Hello All

I have recently taken delivery of a couple of Syngergy 12000 Chassis' populated with 10 SY480 Gen 10 Blades.

I want to baseline all the blades firmware in the same way so i have treated a Server Profile Template and Server profile but I am unable to assign this SP to the Device Bays / Server hardware as there is nothing other than the Unassigned option in ther server hardware drop down in the SP.

How do assign the SP to all 10 blades already present in the Synergy Chassis?

Hello @speneos

From server profile template, scroll to firmware and "Consistency checking" and ensure that "Exact Match" is selected.

Thank you for your help but it has not helped. I have checked and the Exact Match is selected but it doesnt show with either option.

Since this is a new setup, I assume none of the compute modules have an existing Server Profile already assigned because in that case they won't be offered (and you'll only see unassigned).

It's more likely that you either selected a scope or your Server Profile Template has something defined that cannot be satisfied by your compute modules.

You could try simpler.. ..can you just create a new Server Profile (no scope, "none" for SPT) and does it offer compute modules right at the very start for the Server Hardware pulldown? If not, something else is going on.

Hello

I have deleted all Server Profiles and SP Templates. I then create a new server policy with just a new and description but the server hardware drop down remain empty apart from the unassigned option.

All blades are available and green under the Server Hardware tab with Server Profile empty.

If it is not showing any choices then something is not initialized or cleared correctly. At least do an enclosure refresh but that probably won't clear whatever is missing. Also check on the main user interface under Appliance => Hardware Setup. If there were initial issues discovering the setup, those errors should still be listed there. If it were my setup, I would start by reimaging the composers and initiating the first Hardware Setup all over again.

You're supposed to get some servers offetered in the pulldown...

Have you even created a Logical Enclosure yet? I ask this because you say you only see Unassigned in the server hardware drop down list. Guided Setup would have walked you thorough various steps you need to do first before you can begin to confgure and deploy server profiles.
