Upgrading HPE Synergy platform

Hi Everyone

We are in progress of upgrading HPE Synergy platform ,Below is order of upgrade such as

Current Versions are
OneView: 8.0
Shared Infra Firmware: 2022.08.01
ESXi Hosts Version : 7.0,20328353-7.0U3 EP5(Hosts are running HPE customized image- VMware ESXi 7.0 Update 3 (HPE Synergy August 2022)

Step1:Upgrade OneView from 8.0 to 8.3
Step2:Upgrade Shared Infra from 2022.08.01 to 2023.10.01
Step3:Upgrade Blade FW from 2022.08.01 to 2023.10.01
Step4:Upgrade ESXi host to 7.0 U3n(Build #21930508) using HPE Synergy customized Image that is VMware ESXi 7.0 Update 3 (HPE Synergy October 2023)
Step5:Upgrade OneView from 8.3 to 8.6.

So my questions once upgrade OV to 8.6,then when I upgrade Shared Infra to 2023.10.01,
will it backward compatible and supports existing blade/Hosts FW and OS ?
Will there any connectivity issue if I upgrade Shared Infra to 2023.10.01 ?

Looks forward your great support and advise or suggestion on above upgrade paths and versions

Yes, the upgrade path you've outlined appears to be logical and follows a sequence. Generally, HPE designs upgrades to be backward compatible, so upgrading Shared Infra to 2023.10.01 after upgrading OneView to 8.6 should not cause connectivity issues. However, it's always advisable to check HPE's official documentation and release notes for any specific considerations or updates related to compatibility during the upgrade process.

Thanks for your response .

I have already gone though below HPE KB where they mentioned that OneView 8.30 is supported with 2023.10.01¹ SPP,However they have note that "HPE OneView versions 7.0, 8.0, or 8.3 with this SSP is considered a limited support version. It is only to be used for updating HPE OneView.".

So i would like to get opinions and confirmations from experts that if i upgrade OneView to 8.3 and then Shared Infra to 2023.10.01,will existing blades/Hosts with 2022.08.01 SPP and current ESXi version will be still compatible or not ?

I don't see any such compatibility info,so looking your kind advise or support if any .

Is below upgrade path is good to perfrom ? without any compatibility issues ? or any issues with this upgrade order ?

Step1:Upgrade OneView from 8.0 to 8.3

Step2:Upgrade Shared Infra from 2022.08.01 to 2023.05.01

Step3:Upgrade Blade FW from 2022.08.01 to 2023.05.01

Step4:Upgrade OneView from 8.3 to 8.6

Step6:Upgrade shared Infra from 2023.05.01 to 2023.10.01

Step7: Upgrade Blade FW from 2023.05.01 to 2023.10.01

I would recommend the following:

Upgrade HPE OneView from 8.00 => 8.30.01
Upgrade HPE OneView from 8.30.01 => 8.60.01
Upgrade infrastructure direct to SSP 2023.10.01
Upgrade compute modules firmware to SSP 2023.10.0 & upgrade compute OS & drivers to the same

Couple things:

Although not explicitely listed, 8.60.01 still supported SSP 2022.08.01 because it was the last Synergy Gen9 recipe, as long as they're not making config changes.

Upgrading the infrastructure and compute is officially validated within their 1 year support lifecycle; but you're only 1 SSP out of cycle and there's no specific problem

How you upgrade and coordinate the compute module firmware, OS, and drivers is up to you: if you use vCenter/vLCM that's one process; if you use OneView/iSUT that's another; but the key is to not have a mismatch of compute adapter firmware and drivers.

If i upgrade OneView from 8.3 to 8.60 in second step ,will existing Shared Infra FW and Blades are backward compatible with OneView 6.0 ?

Since i don't see existing SPP (2022.08.01) is supported with OneView 8.6 in HPE SYngery Release Overview article .

So just confusing around the order to upgrade the platform,so looking assistance here if you have any advise or recommendation on upgrade order to ensure that upgrade should not cause issues.

Assuming you mean 8.0? Yes if you do not make any changes at all. That's what the footnote means-- "keep going" to a supported receipe.

Since i don't see existing SPP (2022.08.01) is supported with OneView 8.6 in HPE SYngery Release Overview article .

That's because we're just now trying to figure out where to put the note that says that SSP 2022.08.01 will remain validated for the life of Synergy Gen9 servers. It was supposed to be listed (not on the cover page) in the release notes under additionally supported but it didn't make the last publication.

For your information,these blades are Syngery Gen10 Plus blades.

If i upgrade OneView from 8.3 to 8.60 in second step ,will existing Shared Infra FW and Blades are backward compatible with OneView 8.60
