Hello,

To be clear, I believe you mean the following two ICM's, correct?

1. HPE Virtual Connect SE 100Gb F32 Module for HPE Synergy
2. HPE Virtual Connect SE 32Gb FC Module for HPE Synergy

Only the virtual connect ethernet modules (40Gb and 100Gb) use the Interconnet Link Modules's (ILM's) to support additional frames. The virtual connect fibre channel modules require a pair for each frame.

Regards

Can SAS connection be made across frames in Synergy? What components are required in which frame? What is supported and not supported? Thank you!

There are no physical connectors nor any ability to cross frames with the Synergy SAS modules. Each frame that contains a D3940 can only communicate with the local SAS modules and servers. Any server that requires D3940 SAS access requires local SAS modules and local D3940 storage.

Hello,

The HPE Synergy Virtual Connect SE 32Gb FC Modules provide connectivity to network storage (FC/FCoE, iSCSI, etc.) and do not provide any direct SAS connectivity. The SAS ICM's provide connectivity for servers within the same frame. A pair of 100 Gb VC SE modules can be used by up to 5 frames through the use of Interconnect Link Modules. A good document that provides some details regarding this is the HPE Synergy Configuration and Compatibility Guide:

https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=c05061206en_us&page=GUID-322C6B82-3183-42E6-A01D-B52BE4CF77C7.html

Regards

I see.

Just want to confirm there is no Interconnect Link module for HPE Synergy Virtual Connect SE 32Gb using FC, all chassis must have HPE Synergy Virtual Connect SE 32Gb or 100Gb VC SE with FC upgrade license in order to connect anything outside.
