Hi,

We are in the process of setting up a corporate/guest network consisting of HP MSM products. So far everything is pretty simple, but having been used to the old WES/radioports I can't seem to find one simpel thing in the MSM products. The user manager.

We would like to do the following

- create users on the MSM box (for logging in to the access portal)

- delegate the creation of guest users to non-it users, without granting

- no assigning the user manager admin rights on the MSM box

Is this even possible on the MSM series?

Btw. the MSM has been upgraded to the latest firmware.

Hey Mikkel,

I think what you are after is called HP ProCurve Guest Management Software (GMS) or Visitor Management Tool (VMT). Although we are using an MSM765zl Module. Not sure about compatability with an older model of the MSM Controller.

Unfortunately I cannot find a download link for it, but I'm sure if you have a valid MSM License then emailing HP Support is probably your best bet.

From my experience with the Software is that you still require the Manager level access to create guests on the MSM Controller.

Excellent!
Registered the MSM on procurve.com, and I was able to download the software.
Tomorrow I'll go about installing it. I just hope the user creation interface can be simplified because the persone who will be creating the guest users is not very IT skilled... To put it mildly :-)

From what I read, you can create your own password at a stage of the installation. This I assume can be different from the controller username/password.
