topic VSC on Both Radios - What determines which radio I connect to? in M and MSM Series

Hi everyone.

I have 4 x MSM422's connected to a MSM710 Mobility Controller.

Radio 1 is configured for a/n @ 5Ghz and Radio 2 is configured for g @ 2.4Ghz.

I currently have an N VSC on Radio 1 and a G VSC on Radio 2. My laptop connects fine to both VSC's

I've just defined a new NG VSC which broadcasts on both Radio's but but laptop only connects at 54MB on Radio 2.

Why would it do this when a faster connection is available on Radio 1????

Thanks in advance, Chris.

The client usually connects to the best signal - 2.4Ghz has less attenuation than 5Ghz at a given distance, so the 2.4Ghz radio ends up being preferred.

To deal with this?

Band steering on 5.5.0 and later - but check the release notes.
