Dear all,

we have an E-MSM720 running two WLAN, one for guests and one for internal employees.

Is it at least temporarily possible to get a third WLAN configured on this switch ? If yes, what settings I have to take special care for, besides the global effect of DHCP settings ? I need to replace the existing guest WLAN, but without interruption, even on weekends.

Many thanks in advance.

Achim

Hello,
Before anything else - downlaod the appropriate manual from the www.hp.com/go/networking site
First - Plan how your guests are going to get authenticated
Second - Plan how they are going to get IP addresses Egress the controller onto the Internet
Then:
Borrow a "spare" Access Point
Create a new AP Group on the controller
Put the spare AP in it
Follow the "Automated Workflow" wizard (top left) to create your new Guest Network
Do lots of testing...including what happens to an AP when you add a new VSC binding to the AP Group!
Push the New VSC into the existing AP Groups when you are happy all is well

Ta
Ian

Hi,

thanks for the answer. I´ve done these steps and already have two WLAN SSIDs configured on the switch.

The request was about the total number of WLANs we can provide. Can I create a third WLAN to be provided by this single switch or is the number limitted to 2 ? Haven´t found this special detail yet.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards

Achim

VSC's advertised out of a single AP should be 16.
Total number of VSC's on a controller should be 64 on 760/765.
16 VSC's on MSM720 with std license 64 with Mobility / premium.
HTH
Ian
