Hi,

I'm trying to configure a Cisco Switch (WS-2960S-48TS-L, WS-C3750G-48TS) Interface for use with a controlled MSM 460/466 Access Point. The Access Point should get an IP address in VLAN 20 and then trunk to the interface to get VLAN 20 and VLAN 1500 packets into the network. I tried this configuration and it works:

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/44

switchport trunk native vlan 20

switchport trunk allowed vlan 20,1500

switchport mode trunk

Anyone using a similar setup and a different config?

Regards, Leonardo

Hello, Thanks for your blog post, I have same setup but using HP MSM 720 and HP MSM 460 with Cisco 2960 switch and two SSID; Guest(VLAN 20) and Staff (VLAN 100). I have setup the controller and it has discovered the AP but i cannot get IP adrress from my laptop. I have not yet got the switch logins. So should i make the port connecting the AP to the switch a trunk for VLAN 20,100 and Native VLAN 1?

Thanks.

Hi,

yes, the port should be configured as trunk. The native VLAN is where the AP gets its IP address after booting (in your case VLAN 1?). You'll also need a DHCP server in VLAN 100 and 20 for clients connecting to the SSID.

Regards, Leonardo

Thanks,

A quiz, between HP MSM 425 & MSM 460 which is stronger in coverage.

Thanks.
