That's confusing me. AP1 has an default-VLAN IP 192.168.1.x on Port1. OK!

WLAN-traffic (VLAN-2, VLAN3) goes tagged over Port1. OK!

Switch-port should be untagged in default-VLAN, tagged in VLAN2 and VLAN3. AP2 config vice versa Port1 with default-VLAN-IP and WLAN-traffic with egress VLANs and thats it. Why you would like to connect AP1-Port2 to AP2-Port1?

Hello everybody,

I hope you can help me out with this problem. I just can't figure it out.

my lan setup looks like this:
one lan (192.168.1.x) with no dhcp
inside this lan (192.168.1.x) I have 2 vlans working.
first vlan with id 2 (192.168.2.x) and second vlan with id 3 (192.168.3.x)

on the first MSM310 I have connected the lan to port 1 and assigned the MSM310 a static ip (192.168.1.x)
I also configured vlan id 2 with network profile and assosiated it successfuly to vlan2 wireless channel.

but here comes the problem:

I now want to connect a lan cable into port 2 of the first MSM310 and forward the lan (192.168.1.x) with the 2 vlans to the second MSM310 and do the same setup as I explained above.

when I did this I could connect to the lan (192.168.1.x) but I can not get the vlans to work.

How do I get the vlans to work on the second MSM310???

regards

Hello Walter001 and thank you for your reply.

the reason why I want to connect AP1 Port 2 to AP2 Port 1 is because I dont have an option to put a switch or something else in between.

I will try to give you the layout of my lan cables:

I have my switch next to my router in my office. the switch port is configured as you mentioned (untagged for lan, tagged for vlan2 and vlan3). the cable that is connected to the switch port goes up into the first floor where AP1 is mounted. AP1 is connected on Port 1 with the cable coming from the switch.
Now I have a cable going from the first floor up to the second floor where AP2 is mounted so I want to get the lan which comes from the office to the first floor into AP1 bridged to the second floor to AP2 so I can configure the same vlan2 and vlan 3 for wireless access.

Does this explanation help you understand my idea. I just cant figure out how to do the config for AP2 so I can get it working like AP1 is already nicely working.

No way. LAN-Port is access port not trunk port. You can assign management-IP on physical-port not on VLAN-interface.

If distance between APs is not so far maybe local meshing helps?

Thank you Walter001

So my idea is bulls*it =)

Can you help me understand what the second port is for on the MSM310. Is it only a management port? Or can I get somehow my internet connection thru it?

No bulls*it, but not so simple.

You have to define the correct way for data-packets:

AP1-port1: LAN1-IP (f.i. 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0) + VLAN2 + VLAN3

AP1-port2: LAN2-IP (f.i. 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0) + VLAN2 + VLAN3

AP2-port1: LAN2-IP (f.i. 192.168.1.2/255.255.255.0, default-gateway 192.168.1.1) + VLAN2 + VLAN3

On your PC (with IP f.i. 192.168.0.100) "add route 192.168.1.0 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1"
