All

I spoke to someone from HP and I asked whether HP were OK for third party customers to access the SVP. He thought when you have a support contract with a lower level of support. The customer would be permitted to access the SVP. A customer would be allowed to upgrade microcode, install products / licences, recut the array to apply new lun layouts, install c track, etc. He says training is available. Although he says he'd confirm this.

This surprised me because I assumed there'd be a demarcation between the HP Customer Engineer and third party customer.

If there are any XP storage admins who have come across this arrangement please let me know

thanks

Nick

Hi everyone

I administer a XP24000 test system and my company have opted to pay for the lowest level of support where the customer is required to apply their own patches, install their own products, etc

I haven't been able to find any documentation describing the process customers use to upgrade microcode on XP arrays. Please can you comment / provide any reference information ?

thanks

Nick

I'm quite sure firmware updates can only be done by HP support personnel - you need special system access and of course the firmware.
