分享我的知識 : Linux may stall when connect to HP MSA storage

A 2.6 Kernel Linux host (Red Hat and SUSE are this version) may stall during the boot process while loading the Fibre Channel HBA driver if it is connected to an un-configured MSA1000 or MSA1500 running firmware version 5.20 or 7.00. The perceived stall is due to the secondary controller port of the MSA timing out SCSI commands during the driver init procedure. The HBA driver continuously retries these commands for up to 30 minutes in some cases.

If you can not upgrade the MSA firmware prior connecting, try

1.Power on the un-configured MSA1000/1500 with only one array controller installed.

2.Boot the Linux host.

3.From the Linux host, run the Array Configuration Utility (ACU) and create your configuration. Save and exit the ACU.

4.Plug in the secondary controller.

5.From the host, run the command hp_rescan -a to recognize the secondary controller.

6.Run ACU and set up redundancy settings (implicit/explicit), load balancing LUNs, SSP, and so on. Save and exit the ACU.
