There are no spare drives, just spare chunklets.

Re: 3PAR 7200 different type drive as spare drive
Hi!
I want to clarify - new drive(200GB) is bigger than old(100GB). Is it possible to use this new drive(200GB) in CPGs, LDs with other old drives(100GB)?

Re: 3PAR 7200 different type drive as spare drive
Yes, you can. However, it will probably be able to use up to 100GB of the 200GB only as there are no other drives avaiiable to form the raidlets once all the other 7x100G drives are 100% used.

Oh! It sounds great! Thanks!
Do I need to update drive firmware to the same level(version)?

Re: 3PAR 7200 different type drive as spare drive
If the drive is supported by your 3PAR OS, the drive firmware will be automatically updated when you admithw.
What's your 3PAR OS version? You can go to HPE SPOCK and check the drive support matrix which will give you the minimum version of 3PAR required to support that drive.
