3PAR V800 problem changing a disk
Hello, I'm having some problem replacing a faulty disk. Few weeks ago, I have detected a disk defunctioning in one of the magazine. I followed the steps from the guided maintenance in SP and manage to successfully change the drive. Or so i thought.
After few minutes of the servicemag resume, it seems that the command encounter some error and failed. So, now, in the system, I have two disks marked as error, the original which I have already taken out, and the new one inserted. So I get a new physical disk, thinking that probably the new disk inserted is faulty on issue.
However, when I tried the logging command for the servicemag, it failed and come out with error and ask me to contact hpe support. Can anyone help me with this problem?

This would be a good idea.
However, maybe you can give more details, for example the output of
# servicemag status -d
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: 3PAR V800 problem changing a disk
Unfortunately, we no longer have warranty support from HPE for this product.
Anyway, here's the result
cli% servicemag status -d
Cage 1, magazine 8:
A servicemag start command failed on this magazine.
The command completed at Tue Sep 18 09:11:18 2018.
The output of the servicemag start was:
Failed --
Unable to run servicemag Start command. Servicemag is either active or has failed for this cage and magazine.
Please rectify any error conditions and issue "servicemag unmark" before retrying.
servicemag start -pdid 48 51 -- Failed
pdid 38 and 51 are actually in the same location

Re: 3PAR V800 problem changing a disk
You told the "resume" has failed, but the status tells the "start" has failed?
What have you done meanwhile?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: 3PAR V800 problem changing a disk
My mistake about the resume/start. To be honest, I am not really an expert on this matter. Apart from googling to find the same problem with solution, I haven't do much about with the system. Since this is a production storage, and we have no warranty support from HPE, I kind of have doubt about 'trying' something, in case any further problem arise.

A new support contract would be a good idea.
I would strongly recommend to open a support call anyway, even without warranty/contract.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: 3PAR V800 problem changing a disk
Hello firagojira ,
An output of showpd -p -cg 1 -mg 8 -c and showpd -p -cg 1 -mg 8 -s should tell more details . Sometimes it so happens that one removes the disk way before it was evacuated and may have interupted a drive relocation in progress.
