Hello,
I am trying to find out if i have a 4 node installation of a 3PAR 8000 system, how many ethernet cables do i need to connect to the system and how many ip addresses do i need, my thoughts are 2 ethernet cables per node pair (0 and 1, 2 and 3) so 4 cables in total and another cable for the Service processor. Also, will they need one ip address for all the node pairs? or an ip address for each node pair(1 per node pair, 2 in total).
Thank you.

SolutionHello,
you are right.
1 Mgmt Cable per Node = 4 Cable
1 Mgmt IP for the System (Only One Port is Active and there is a Auto Port Failover)
Service Processor:
It depends, it is not direct attached or inside the 3PAR.
May be Virtual or, if Physical Server 1 for iLO and 2 for Mgmt.

Re: 3Par "4 nodes" MGMT Ethernet Ports Installation and Configuration
For the 3PAR the minimum is 2 cables, recommended is a cable per node, but a single IP address for the system.
For the SP it depends on model and version, could be 1 to 3 cables and IP addresses.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
