Adding new voulme in Remote Copy Group on the fly.

Hello,

I'm currently trying to add new volume in an existing Remote Copy Group on the fly but it seems not to be possible.

I have to stop group, add the volume and restart the Group.

Is it a restriction of HP3PAR or is it another way to do it?

Thx.

Best regards.

No, that's correct. The group stops, all source volumes start using their snap CPG. Add volume, start group. All source volumes catch up and get back in sync.

Re: Adding new voulme in Remote Copy Group on the fly.

Hello Sheldon,

Thx for answer. Indeed when the group is stopped, snap CPG is used.

But It's a weired behaviour! so if I have a group of hundred disks and I need to add a new one, all disks of the group would be impacted.

I'm used with EMC boxes and EVA boxes and we can add a volume on the fly without impacting other disks.

In the past with EMC asynchronous remote copy, same behaviour was reported but corrected in meantime. Never encountered this in EMC synchronous mode.

I hope HP would correct it on next OS release?

Best regards.

Nordin.
