Hello expert,
Previously, a LUN is used by 50GB by guest OS. Now we delete some unused files on OS based on this LUN. (In guest OS, it only use 10GB)
However, when we look back to 3PAR on the used space of this LUN, it is still 50GB.
Can you tell us how to release those unused free space to let 3PAR show only 10GB is used.

SolutionThe guest OS needs to inform the array the deleted space can be reclaimed.
The reclamation process depends on the guest OS. See the technical paper "HP 3PAR Thin Technologies" (4AA3-8987ENW, June 2014, Rev. 4) for the appropriate section (Thin Reclamation for <specific OS>) starting on page 27:
