Combining 3par Peer Persistence with asynch third storeserv array target

Hello Everybody,

I want to implement an Y architecture with three 3PAR (3 DC) like EMC MetroPoint topology " replication from an EMC VPLEX Metro region of two data centers to a third site with recoverypoint". So, I want to make metro cluster between DC1 and DC2 with 3Par peer persistence technology then asynch replication of these two DC to a third DC with remote copy, it's like combining of SLD topology with peer persistence .

Is it possible to make this architecture ?

Hello,

Peer persistence is possble between the two source and destination arrays. It may not be feasible or appropriate to set it with a third site using SLD. The principle purpose of SLD is backup. Remember that for peer persistence to work, quorum needs to work, which can monitor only two arrays at this moment.

You can configure the sync leg of the SLD in peer persistence, this will work, but officially this is not supported configuration with peer persistence existance.  The reason is the additional steps required for reconfiguration of the replication when you failover to secondary site which can't be automated. it involves manual process.
