Hello, I’ve been asked to look into ways of making sure the physical discs attached to our 3par can be erased so the data can’t be accessed by another party when the hardware is moved on. We have 48 x 600 GB discs. My initial thought would be to create new arrays and mount them on a server and run low level formatting software. My question is – Is there a way to achieve this from either the management console of the CLI?
Thanks.

Re: Completely erase data from physical discs (Data Destruction) 3Par?
There are procedures to completely wipe the data, better ask HP support for help.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Completely erase data from physical discs (Data Destruction) 3Par?
I know "There are procedures" but can it be done natively using the 3par tools? for example if I do a "system wipe and rerun OOTB". Will it destroy the data on the discs?

Yes, that will init all the chunklets.
The official procedure is from the 3PAR console select the deinstall option from the menu.
Of course if you have encryption, there is nothing you need to do, unless you want to reuse the disks.
