Different between device type and device protocol
on 3par console for physical disks. There are device type and device protocls for each disk.
I need to know what is the difference between them.

Re: Different between device type and device protocol
Depending on the 3par array model it is using either real fibre channel disks or SAS disks.
The main difference is the communication between controllers and disks, e.g. the 7000 series is using SAS connections, the 10000 series is using FC connections (and adapters for SAS disk interfaces to "translate" to FC).
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

The device type tells you the size and speed: SSD, FC (Fast Class), NL (Nearline).
The protocol tells you how array or bridge talks to the disk. Important if you're ordering disks.
