Does 3PAR Application Suite for VMware mandatory for vSphere 5.5 with 3PAR OS 3.1.1 or greater?

Does 3PAR Application Suite for VMware mandatory for vSphere 5.5 with 3PAR OS 3.1.1 or greater?

Hi,

 

We're planning to propose a 3PAR 7200 for a customer and I wonder is HP 3PAR Application Software Suite for VMware is mandatory?  Inside the suite also includes Site recovery manager, 3PAR management software, host discovery for vmware,  VASA and VAAI plugins.

 

And from the official VMware-vSphere-HP-3PAR best practices document,  it stated that:

Our customer does not need site recovery manager plugin at the moment, also storage provisioning from vcenter is not really matter. 

 

But the 3PAR Software Suite for VMware seems to be required in order to make use of  VASA , is it recommended to include VASA plugin? If so then we have no choice but to get the suite.
