Migrate Windows 2003 currently booting from EVA6400 to 3Par 7400

Hello Experts,

We will soon be migrating from EVA to 3Par in the next few months. The documentation is clear but it doesn't mention one of our specific situations.

How do you migrate a Windows 2003 server which boots from EVA6400 to 3Par, which currently have HP MPIO full feature DSM installed?

Also, does 3Par MPIO software for 2003 support EVA6400?

Another way to put the above is...... Is there documentation for migrating a Windows 2003 server from EVA6400 to 3Par (including system disk) using the EVA to 3Par migration tool?

Thanks

Stuart

As ranjitha mentioned we do have coexistence of both EVA DSM and 3PAR DSM under Windows 2003 and the 3PAR DSM must be installed prior to migration, this is for non-Boot From SAN (BFS) configurations.  You can refer to page 38 of the SAN Design Guide Part 3 for the coexistence, http://h20272.www2.hp.com/utility/document.aspx?docurl=Shared%20Documents/dg/san_design/SDG_Mar2013_Part3_HostStorageSystemRules_5697-2621.2013_06_21.pdf

A couple caveats on the BFS is that the boot settings would need to be changed to accommodate the 3PAR paths.  This can be found in the Online Import Migration Guide, http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c03597451/c03597451.pdf?HPBCMETA::contentarea=manuals&publisher=Product+Manuals&productclass=10008&productclass=10004&productclass=10007&keywords=&sitewide_search=yes&

Also, you would need to eliminate all DSM’s from the configuration which means dropping down to a single path back to the EVA and a single path to the 3PAR for the migration.  Once you completed the migration and you were booting to the 3PAR destination path, you could then install the 3PAR DSM, shutdown, add the rest of your paths to the host and boot up.

Thanks Gary,

You've confirmed our thoughts. Not pretty but I suppose there is no other way.

Cheers
