Re-Use idle/offline 3PAR SSD disk in other live 3PAR

Hi Community,

We have a plan to re-use some of the disk inside a 3PAR 8440 (this 3PAR is idle & offline) to another 3PAR 8400 that is currently live and serving traffic.

Is the above plan possible? Only the disk is required (12x 1.92TB SSD to be exact), since the user premises has limited space and it's not possible to install the whole 3PAR 8440, but there is still 24 SFF slots available in the existing 8400.

For additional information, the idle disk in 3PAR 8440 has been configured and used by several VMs before it was set to idle & offline

Hi

if you have all inclusive licensing and both 3PAR machines are at same

software version it should be possible it is best to erase the 3PAR that is not used

before or to un-install drives through 3PAR CLI

I'm not really sure about the licensing, but software version is different.

And for sure we intent to erase the disks (since the data will not be used anyway), can we erase/format them in the new (destination) 3PAR?

if it lists number of disks license for you need a license to add disks

it is best to uninstall drives from source system read post below

if systems are at different software level check disk current firmware is in disk DB
