See the size of a snapshot aka virtual copy

Hello 3par folks

Where can i see the size a snapshot has taken in the guu/cli?

I added all the collumns there are in thebut no entry shows any space taken. The snapshots are all 0.000 GiB in size. I created files, edited them and deleted some. But still no size difference shows in the last shapshot.

thanks for any help

Re: See the size of a snapshot aka virtual copy

We use the 3par Management Console and the new Web base  3PAR StoreServ Management Console. But we cant see the size of a Snapshot in neither of those interfaces. Internet search did bring up following topic that did not solve the question:

What CLI command did you use?  showvv?

Did you change at least a MB?

Re: See the size of a snapshot aka virtual copy

This is the output of the showvv command from the cli. We create snapshots every 2h and the system is full productive. So we have rround 100 virtual servers running on the 3par. There are constant modifications from Fileserver, SQL, Proxy, and so on...

Another thing that seems very strange. Since we setup the snapshots, the size of the mainvolume is shown as 46TB. It summarizes its own size with all the snapshots taken (8x5TB + 5TB)

Can anyone from HP answer how we can see the size of a snapshot? We had an external 3Par engineer in the house, searched the documentation and the internet without any success.

Thanks

Re: See the size of a snapshot aka virtual copy

VV_VMW_RZ1_DS01 is a thin dedup volume with a virtual size of 5 TiB. Of that, a little under 2.2 TiB is in use.
It has 8 virtual copies. Combined, they are using less than 20 GiB. You can not see the size of an individual snapshot.

Re: See the size of a snapshot aka virtual copy

Thank you very much for the clarification. Just for other users that might find this post in the future. You can see the combined size of all the snapshot in the 3par interface under Provisioning -> Virtual Volumes -> Right klick on the collumns on the top -> Show -> Raw Reserved Copy Size
