Re: Storage Administration Portal for VMware vCenter and 3PAR 7450

Update: Restarting the CIM server and the vCenter Storage Module didn't seem to have any impact and the setsysmgr quiet-restart command doesn't exist. Also, upon further inspection, I don't think I want to be messing around with the setsysmgr command. Seems like I could do some damage with that.

So looking at that manual, it appears that there could potentially be a communication situation between the Storage Admin Portal server and the VIP for the 7450. Could this have something to do with the firewall service on the service processor? Do I have to add an exception or a firewall rule for the Storage Admin Portal server maybe?

OK, it said to check with showcim.

Well, you can use "shutdownnode reboot"  on the master node (gotten by showsys).

I'm not sure how the firewall on the SP should have any connection to the array networking.

I have had the same Issue on a 7200 with 3.1.3.

After a wihle of Troubleshootig I give it up.

Interessting to see if there is a solution.

Cali, can you do me a favor? Can you run a showcim on your 7200? Is both HTTP and HTTPS enabled for cim communication?

Re: Storage Administration Portal for VMware vCenter and 3PAR 7450

Good News

After startcim ist works for both systems :-)

The Manual says:

By default, the CIM server is not started until this command is issued.

So, after every reboot of the 3PAR we have to do a startcim again?

and thank's

Re: Storage Administration Portal for VMware vCenter and 3PAR 7450

After I've rebooted my 7450 a few times, I haven't had to restart the CIM server. I haven't had to do a full shutdown though. I am not sure what will happen after a full powerdown and power up.

Re: Storage Administration Portal for VMware vCenter and 3PAR 7450

I was having the same issue on a recent 7200. For whatever reason this is what worked for me.

stopwsapi

setwsapi -http enable

startwsapi

This had both http and https active and enabled.

stopcim

startcim

I was then able to add the 3PAR Management IP to the Storage Administrator Portal.

I hope that helps!
