TPVV and TDVV - 3PAR OS 3.2.1.120 (MU1)

So, looking through my console I can now see that Thin Dedupelication is available in the software tab. I cannot personally recall if that was available in 3.2.1.46. We upgraded immediately after powering on our 7450s. I can't seem to find anywhere in the UI or in the VMware integration points where I can enable or disable TDVV for volumes I create. What am I missing here?

This is a new feature for MU1.  Look at the Release Notes.

Have you looked at the release notes? I've been going through them myself for the last day and I cannot specifically see anywhere indicating a how to on the UI for TDVV. I see there are some CLI commands I can run, like creating a template and whatnot. I am specifically referencing page 30 out of the October release notes for GA/MU1.

That's because you're expected to look elsewhere for more details.

By UI did you mean GUI/IMC?

For the CLI, you can use "createvv -h", the option is -tdvv.

I reviewed the white paper. There are a few sections that mention thin dedupe, but they seem conceptual:

After that there are a few lines about converting from tpvv to tdvv using the CLI but nothing mentioning provisioning via the GUI.

Update: Just browsed through some other forums. An insider mentioned that the GUI/IMC has not been updated yet to support TDVV. This should be coming Thursday-ish according to the poster.

OK, then use the CLI.  :-)

Use the GUI to create your CPGs and then the CLI to create your TDVVs.
