Update Status stuck in vSP (SPOCC)

After updating HP 3PAR OS from version 3.2.1.200 (MU2) P07 to version 3.2.2.390-MU2 update status is displayed in vSP (SPOCC) as "All components are updated successfully. Updating disk drives and cages."

The last rows in Details field are:

2016-03-05 212311 MSK Updated     Checking cage firmware...
2016-03-05 212311 MSK Updated     5 cages require firmware upgrades.
2016-03-05 212311 MSK Updated     This will require approximately 50-100 minutes.
2016-03-05 212312 MSK Updated     2016-03-05 182255 +0000
2016-03-05 212312 MSK Updated     Upgrading cage cage0 cpuA from rev 321a to revision in file /opt/tpd/fw/cage/ebod/hp_eos_canister_local_combined_v4044.gff.

The task admithw is completed successfully in 3PAR Management Console

All component versions are up-to-date according to 3PAR Management Console and with this document: http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c04780382

What actions do I need to complete for update status correction in vSP (SPOCC)?

If this array is under support and you were given the code from HP (3.2.2 is still under monitored relase for 7x00 arrays AFAIK), then raise a support call.  Everything you need for the upgrade was contained within the firmware update and although it can take a long time for all the drives to upgrade, I have not seen one fail.  And I havce updatedin the region of  50 arrays over the past fdew years.

If there is an issue with this update, HP will be wanting to know about it.  Raise a support call and let us know here what the answer was please.

Did you wait that time?

Hope this helps!

Re: Update Status stuck in vSP (SPOCC)

I think I would try to connect via CLI and check if the task is still running (showtask).

Hope this helps!

Re: Update Status stuck in vSP (SPOCC)

Use "showcage" and check the versions:

cli% showcage

Id Name LoopA Pos.A LoopB Pos.B Drives Temp RevA RevB Model Side
0 cage0 1:0:1 0 0:0:1 0          24    26-29 3211 321c DCN1 n/a
1 cage1 1:0:2 0 0:0:2 0          24    26-28 321c 321c DCS2 n/a

In this example you see 1 controller with not matching firmware.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Update Status stuck in vSP (SPOCC)

This looks good so far.

In case of doubt you may consider to open a call at hpe support.

However, I would close the browser, clear the cache and open a new session and check.

Hope this helps!

Solution

Re: Update Status stuck in vSP (SPOCC)

HPE Support advised to reinstall vSP. After reinstalling the status is displayed as “No past update information available.”
Versions of all components are relevant. Problem solved. Thanks.
