Where is the online hot spare in my 3par array

A customer is asking to see the online hotspare disk in 3par.

Please guide me as per how to explain to him how 3par works with that respect.

There is no dedicated hot spare, but reserved spare space on each disk.

Hope this helps!

Thanks

...but how to explain to the customer and how to guide him to know how their raid5 space was utilized.

how is the protection space based on a particular raid calculated?

Perhaps he should read the HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage Concepts Guide that explains chunklets:

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c04204225

showpd -c will show you the count of spare chunklets on each PD.

There are various CLI commands that show space used by CPGs and VVs and for the whole system:

showcpg, showvv, showspace
