we have recently bought two 3 Par 7200 arrays
do we have to be 3 Par certified to install them, as we would like to install ourselves.

Re: 3 Par 7200 installation
Yes, you technically have to be certified to install, or even open, the storage.

Re: 3 Par 7200 installation
Your purchase should have come with (read: you should have already paid for though your vendor) 3PAR Basic Installation, and perhaps Advanced Installation for other features if you bought other suites... Optimization, Replication, etc.
HP has an Installation Process in place for 3PAR currently, only HP or certified partner vendors can install the unit. Even if you were "certified", and since you are probably not working for a partner... you would not have access to all of the tools necessary to install the units. (Latest OS, Phone Home info, etc) (If you do work for partner, then maybe you can get access to those things.)
