3PAR 7200 and 8200

Hi there,

is there any way for upgrading an existing and productive 3PAR 7200 to a 3PAR 8200?

Maybe I replace the Controller Nodes and the Drive Enclosures and Drives may be compatible?

Thanks a lot!

Regards

so, when I replace the controllers they won't be compatible with the 'old' drive enclosures?

there's no known way for doing such an upgrade?

Re: 3PAR 7200 and 8200

Short answer: NO!

Long answer: NO!

As the previous participants stated, the hardware is completely different! You cannot mix even a 7200 node with a 7200c in the same chassis!

As you say "existing and productive 3PAR7200"... Even if you are buying a brand new 8200, you have to use Peer Motion to move the volumes from the 7200 to 8200, and only after you can decomission 7200!
