Hi All,
Could someone assist me with a cabling up a 2-node 3PAR 9450 to 5 disk enclosures?
Tried to make sense of the cabling guide (which stops at 4 enclosures) and getting stuck.
And this is my first time deploying a 3PAR, so go easy!
Thanks!

Re: Assistance with cabling 3PAR 9450
It depends on the number of disk ports and if you use direct or daisy chained configuration.

Re: Assistance with cabling 3PAR 9450
Hi Craig,
More than 4 enclosures is definitely possible in 2 node 3PAR 9450. Each node pair supports up to 12 Drive Enclosures.
Please check if this article is useful for you - https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-a00053289en_us#N100BB

Re: Assistance with cabling 3PAR 9450
Thanks to you both. It would be direct-connect. Each controller node has a 2 x 4-port 12G SAS card installed.
Unfortunately the cabling guide isn't very descriptive and only offers a single configuration type (3 x 4-port SAS with 4 enclosures)

Re: Assistance with cabling 3PAR 9450
quickspecs say
"HPE 3PAR StoreServ 9000 Storage uses SAS drive adapters for backend drive connectivity. Two SAS adapters are included as part of each controller node. Each SAS adapter on a controller node can connect up to 8 drive enclosures. HPE 3PAR StoreServ 9000 Storage arrays have 12Gbps SAS backend."
Obviously you need another adapter:
Order the following SKU to configure a third SAS adapter on the HPE 3PAR StoreServ 9000 controller nodes. This is optional because each controller node already includes 2 SAS adapters.
HPE 3PAR 9000 4-port 12Gb SAS Host Bus Adapter
Q0E96A
Two (2) SAS adapters are included as part of each controller node
A third optional SAS adapter can be ordered per controller node
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Assistance with cabling 3PAR 9450
I would need a third controller why? Just curious, as it should work with what is there.

Re: Assistance with cabling 3PAR 9450
I thought you have 9 enclosures, but you have 5, right? All SFF? Even numbers of enclosures are strongly recommended.
You basically cable like this:
slot 2 port 1 - first enclosure
slot 1 port 2 - second enclosure
slot 2 port 3 - third enclosure
1/3 - 4. enc
2/2 - 5. enc
...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Assistance with cabling 3PAR 9450
It is a dual-node 9450 with 2 x 4-port 12G SAS cards per controller, and 5 enclosures.
