A mobile app store…for employees

The rapid growth and adoption of mobile devices and apps is a major disruption for enterprise IT teams. Companies need to have a way to manage and administer their mobile apps and content. They need a way to get the right apps into the hands of the right users; regardless of the device they choose to use.


Our goal with the HP Access Catalog is to save companies the time and trouble of building their own store. The   Access Catalog is a cloud service, that way you don’t have to consume time and resources looking after on-premises software. The store lets employees access apps via a web browser from their desktop computers or via a client app downloaded to their Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. 



IT administrators can add applications to the store. They can set policies to delegate who has access to business apps by individual user, or by user group, such as financial services or marketing. IT can also view app usage metrics on how many employees have downloaded what apps. The new catalog provides organizations a secure, private “app store” for employees to browse, search and download mobile applications.


HP Access Catalog’s user-friendly Web interface, identity management system and seamless integration with enterprise identity systems will help increase the mobile productivity and effectiveness without compromising security.


“The HP Access Catalog is a pure software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering that helps organizations reduce the cost and complexity of managing applications on company-issued and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) mobile device,” says Director of Product Management at HP Software Services Tim Rochte


The HP Access Catalog client offers these key features:

  1. Browse and search: The Access Catalog client enables end users to browse or search for available applications, and get specific information on the capabilities and details of each application—including descriptions, reviews and ratings.

  2. Manage: The client features complete management capabilities, enabling users to install, receive update notifications, update, and uninstall applications. In some cases, users will be able to sign up for automatic updates, this way their applications can immediately get updated when new versions are available.

  3. Review: The catalog client enables users to review the application they downloaded by assigning a star rating and writing a short review.
