Announcing HP Unified Functional Testing version 12.01! The next advancement in automation testing

‎07-28-2014 03:31 PM - edited ‎09-09-2015 02:35 PM

Hello, I am glad to inform that the first service pack on top of UFT version 12 was released today.

If you haven’t upgraded to version 12 yet, please first read this blog post to learn what we provided in that major release, then, you might be happy to know that UFT 12.01 is provided as a full product installation, meaning that it can be used also on a clean machine, with a lean web installation package (less than 800MB), you can also upgrade directly to 12.01 without the need to install UFT 12 first.

You can download HP Unified Functional Testing here and try it for yourself.

There are two areas I would like to focus on when highlighting what’s new in version 12.01:

A) From now on, HP UFT will be able to support the latest chrome browser versions much faster than ever before.

We are able to do it by uploading UFT’s engine extension to the chrome web store from which it will be automatically deployed to the user machine, contiguously to the chrome new version release.

This new channel is an important step forward to accelerate UFT’s browsers support Time-To-Market. This will also be available to UFT 11.5X users.

In the future, we will provide similar capability also in the Firefox browser/store.

With 12.01 we support the latest browsers versions: Chrome 36, Firefox 31, IE11 and Safari 7.

B) Deciding which new  technology we would like to add to UFT’s support matrix is always a hard decision, however, in this release, we were able to address not one, but three big things:

  1. Windows Runtime objects (AKA- MetroUI) to support the latest Windows Store application GUI
  2. Siebel OpenUI which is becoming the most popular client version of Siebel
  3. SAPUI5 which is the new & popular SAP UI Development Toolkit based on HTML5

For more information on those and many other new versions of technologies and environments that were added in this release, please read our 12.01 readme.

Now that you know what’s new in UFT 12.01 and the added value that it can bring you, would you like to play with it?

Amir, could you please confirm if the trial for UFT is for 60 days now?

Amir's reply: The trail period of UFT is 30 days

Not sure exactly how to get the Chrome plugin. Is it supposed to be available now in the Chrome Web Store? I was unable to find it by searching.  Is it bundled already with UFT 12.01?

Thanks for the question John

If you have internet connection on the UFT machine then the Chrome extension will be installed automatically from the Chrome store when you open Chrome

You will be asked to enable the extension first time you open Chrome

Currently the Chrome extension is not public that’s why you couldn’t find it

In case you don’t have internet connection you can install the extension manually.

All the info could be found in UFT documentation. Search for: “How to Enable the HP Unified Functional Testing Agent Chrome Extension”
