HP Unified Functional Testing’s Insight in action: The Office Watchdog

Anonymous_User1 ‎07-03-2014 07:15 PM - edited ‎09-09-2015 03:15 PM

(This post was written by Roee Weisbert, of the UFT R&D team)

HP Unified Functional Testing’s image-based testing feature, Insight, has some powerful capabilities that can be used for some interesting (and fun!) purposes.  One thing I’ve been using it for is to keep an eye on my cubicle and check up on who’s been nosing around.

I created a short video that demonstrates:

  • How quickly Insight can track a changing image in a video stream
  • How much you can do with just ten (yes, that’s ten!) lines of code
  • How much fun it can be!

It was pretty easy - I used two Insight objects, one as a reference for perfect matching, and another that is being captured even if the image is completely different to what was expected.

The script itself consists of an infinite loop of tracking, capturing and analyzing changes in a video stream provided by a webcam in my cubicle.

Here's the video.  Set the quality to 720p for best results...
