Why should you upgrade to the new version of HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)? In our webinar on  February 4 our quality assurance and testing evangelist, Michael Cooper, will give you some answers about why you can’t wait to upgrade. Michael will be joined by Susan Merriman – from HP Software’s global education team – to speak about how you can get the most value from HP ALM. In this blog post, Susan gives us a peek into the areas she’ll be covering with references to the experience of one customer, Open Grid.

The benefits of HP ALM

The new version of HP ALM packs in some great features to help you:

  • Know where you are with a complete view across every project (with status, KPIs and metrics)
  • Hit delivery targets with real-time project planning and tracking
  • Be more efficient to accomplish more with project template creation and tools to reuse and share assets
  • Automate testing to enhance quality and reduce the project lifecycle
  • Reduce risk with real-time project analytics
  • Monitor coding to track developer progress and enhance collaboration

HP ALM helps your projects progress smoothly, predictably and quickly. Because it’s a feature-packed solution, it is important to train your staff to confidently use the software the most important thing you can do to make the most of it is to train your people to confidently use the software.

3 ways to enable your people

There are three simple ways to help your people get up to speed with HP ALM:

  1. Familiarise yourself with the new HP ALM features. The best way to do that is by attending our webinars and accessing HP-built enablement content
  2. Help your configuration team set up HP ALM by attending our instructor-led training courses
  3. Help your users learn by providing them customized easy to access learning content.

While number three may appear to be a time consuming task it doesn’t have to be that way. Take a look here at how one company, Open Grid, creates interactive simulations for the key features of HP ALM tailored to users’ roles. For instance, a developer who wants to create a test plan has easy access – in the application – to simulations that show step-by-step instructions. Open Grid’s enablement program:

  • Ensures that users get the most from HP ALM
  • Improves usage of HP ALM in software quality assurance
  • Cuts calls to their help desk
  • Saves money through efficiencies
