The power of HP Application Lifecycle Management with distributed teams and key stakeholders

mcooper on ‎07-01-2014 04:48 PM

When you work together as a team, you are stronger than you are individually. This has been proven time and time again to make your organization more agile and responsive.

Distributed global teams and new technologies often pose new challenges to application organizations since traditional application releases are often managed as siloed projects. In the past, communication between application teams was sparse and ineffective. Application transformation initiatives often seek to break up these silos, leading to the development of hundreds of services and composite applications. HP Application Lifecycle Management (HP ALM) software enables organizations to better achieve business outcomes with their application teams in order to bring predictability, agility and quality to the application lifecycle.

HP ALM accelerates application transformation by empowering application teams to plan, build, and prepare for application releases, components, and services with fewer delays and better quality.

In addition, HP ALM closes gaps between IT team silos and disjointed work processes related to:

  • Project planning and tracking
  • Requirements definition and management
  • Application development, functional, performance, and security testing activities
  • Defect tracking, and application readiness for release

Within the teams, HP ALM allows for a complete line of sight across enterprise release trains throughout the core application lifecycle. This helps prepare all stakeholders for the impact of change that comes from application transformation and reducing the “time to know” that can result in errors and lack of delivery readiness. HP Quality Center addresses the functionality needs of large, global enterprises with initiatives that span hundreds of applications and geographically distributed teams which is ideal for customers who have an application center of excellence.

A key aspect of HP ALM is its ability to increase communication and collaboration between key stakeholders.

Developers are key stakeholders in the application lifecycle and it is important that tasks, requirements, and defects be communicated to them without requiring them to learn and use additional tools. HP ALM answers this request by providing supported integrations into the most popular IDEs and source code change management systems for linking tasks, requirements, and defects. Using HP ALM, developer tasks and code changes are tracked against the requirements in order to track project progress and evaluate risk.

Today, application quality depends more than ever on a strong test team. It is vital to have a fully integrated common environment where business teams, development teams and quality teams work collaboratively. HP ALM allows for application development teams to use an integrated set of tools along with their quality testing teams to channel efficient communication and results. With HP ALM, you can improve your business impact of IT and maximize organizational effectiveness with team collaboration!
