Re: Unlocking the Power of Enterprise Mobility: HP Anywhere Partner Program

Marcus Turner

Nice introduction, but it bothers me that the quote is around BYOD.  Sure ... initially, BYOD was a challenge to any enterprise as the internal IT teams were used to focusing on specific devices and platforms within the enterprise common operating environment.  However, BYOD is a solution that has been solved ... there are a myriad of great vendors that do MDM and MAM.

The true challenges of enterprise mobility are:

  • Personalization & User Experience
  • Absorption of Mobile principles and strategies within all enterprise initiatives

On personalization and user experience, I would just use the hp Consulting example.  We used to have large engagements ($25M+) where the project plans never addressed either personalization or user experience.  Sure, some forward thinking companies worked years ago on portals, but they were really domain portals, not personalization.  User experience historically was never even a consideration.  In today's world, personalization, simplicity of elegance and a focus on user experience is the principle key to success of our new enterprise software initiatives.

Mobile strategies are still being pushed.  The key is obviously to have one, but that just catches the enterprise up to 2012 (or so).  Enterprises of today that really focus on mobility consider it a fundamental component, like electricity or messaging.  They absorb the principles and concepts of mobile as part of every strategy ... not independent of strategies and business initiatives.
