A spotlight on security … right where it should be

By Carrie Francey

If one thing hasn’t changed over the past few years in IT, it has been the on-going … and actually growing … focus on security.  It’s a topic that constantly comes up in conversations I have with customers. Articles about it make up major portions of the trade publications. It’s no surprise that Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has made security one of the four Transformation Areas that need to be addressed if enterprises are going to thrive in the idea economy.

So it’s also no surprise that the spotlight will be on security at this week’s HPE Discover event in Las Vegas, I’d like to bring your attention to two sessions that will feature the best of the best – security experts from HPE and Strategic Alliance partners like Microsoft who will share their expertise and experience. Both of these sessions are definitely “must-attends.”

One powerful panel

The first session is titled “Protect Your Digital Enterprise: A Discussion of Challenges and Solutions for a Rapidly Transforming IT Landscape.”  IT is scheduled for Tuesday, June 7 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Innovation Theatre 1.

The HPE – Microsoft Strategic Alliance is very pleased that Bret Arsenault, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) will be contributing to the panel discussion. He will join Emily Heath, CISO, AECOM; Gary Campbell, CTO, HPE Security; and Kirsten Davies, VP & Deputy CISO, HPE, to address critical topics such as:

  • Whose responsibility is it to build security in? Is building security into hardware needed? How do you build on that by building security into the Applications, are SW providers building security in?
  • Why has securing data itself been so difficult? What does it take to build in security into data and apps?
  • How does security operations keep up with rapidly changing IT environment and rapidly changing threat landscape? This will include a discussion of correlation vs. analytics vs advanced analytics.
  • The most important considerations for security to “fit” into the modern IT environment?

Attend and get the latest information form the thought leaders … and action leaders in security.

Specifics in a General Session

Bret Arsenault will make a quick move to Meg Whitman’s General Session from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday in Sands Convention Center, Hall B. Again, security will be the focus of Bret’s contribution.

We are expecting over 6,000 IT decision-makers to be in the audience for this General Session. I hope you will be one of them.

Sure to interest you

As one of HPE’s most important strategic partners and a Diamond sponsor of HPE Discover, Microsoft will have a strong presence at the event. Once Tuesday’s security-focused sessions are over, check out the following venues and sessions where you’ll be able to see the best the HPE-Microsoft Alliance has to offer:

  • Microsoft booth #400 will offer demos of CPM, data platform and cloud platform solutions. Microsoft and HPE experts will also be on hand to answer your questions and make the connection between you and the Microsoft solution that best meets your requirements.
  • Over 50 different sessions featuring HPE – Microsoft joint solutions. Select from great theater sessions, demos, hands-on labs, breakout sessions and more.
