An easy climb to the top: Red Hat Summit 2019
By Steven Fleischman - HPE - Red Hat Alliance Manager
Reaching a summit is typically a rough, treacherous, time-consuming haul. But we’ve made getting to the top of today’s technology solutions easier than ever with the Red Hat Summit being held from May 7 – 9 in Boston. All you have to do is register, attend … and, of course, be sure to stop by HPE Booth #637.HPE and Red Hat have partnered closely for years to deliver open source solutions to deliver a competitive edge to our mutual customers. Recently, one of the major solution areas we have explored together is containers, since more and more of our customers are adopting container technology as they modernize their IT applications. Containers enable customer to develop and deploy software much faster and with higher quality. Implementing a containerized environment across existing infrastructure is a complex undertaking that can require many weeks or months, particularly for enterprises.
That’s why we will be spotlighting Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform on HPE Synergy at the HPE booth and the event in general. This is a complete out-of-the-box container solution that deploys in hours and brings immediate value to your business. Pairing HPE Synergy with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform creates a perfect environment for large-scale deployments of containerized applications in enterprise environments where scalability, persistent storage, and easy manageability are required.
The HPE Synergy and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform solution provides:
- Automated deployment of RedHat OpenShift Container Platform using Ansible playbooks in less than 2 hours
- All in one datacenter consolidation platform to run container and non-containerized workloads in a single environment
- Robust container data management features via HPE 3PAR and Nimble storage backbends
- Ability to flex container resources up and down using Ansible and HPE OneView composer and image stream
OpenShift will also be the focus of an HPE Breakout Session at the event. Titled “OpenShift Dev to Ops at Scale with Experian and HPE,” the session will provide you with the ability learn about the best practices and considerations when doing development and operations of OpenShift containers at large scale. Experian, a large data and analytics company, and HPE will share their ideas and experiences around this topic.
Experian will discuss their lessons learned scaling from a small PoC cluster with a dozen developers to a multi-terrabyte cluster with over a thousand developers and ten thousand pods, as well as running multiple global clusters. HPE will highlight considerations for HA and data protection for OpenShift clusters deployed over multiple data centers – what to protect, the different HA options and their trade-offs. Speakers will be Jonathan Deeming, Vice President, Experian and Ka Wai Leung, Container Solutions, HPE. Look for additional details about this session coming soon.
Other solutions. Other opportunities.
It will also be easy for you to learn about other powerful HPE – Red Hat solutions at Red Hat Summit through:
- Demo areas focused on Hybrid IT for Telco, Advisory and Implementation Services and edge to core. (HPE Pointnext)
- Over15 theater sessions presenting topics such as;
- Backup and restore your Red Hat OpenShift environment
- Disaster recovery option for your Red Hat OpenShift environment
- Building end-to-end data analytics pipelines with Red Hat OCP

- Architecting and deploying Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Big Data Clusters with Red Hat
Don’t forget our Expo Theater session with Mitchell Feldman, HPE Pointnext, who will present “A sprint-based service delivering the Container strategy from concept to production.”
And definitely don’t miss our two very special events:
- Customer reception at the famed Fenway Park. Tuesday, May 8 from 7:00pm – 9:30 p.m.
- Women’s Luncheon Wednesday 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM in Room 210B
