Blockchain is here. And the best way to learn all about it is here: HPE Discover 2017

By Drew Denkhaus

It’s been a while since I have seen a new technology generate so much interest and excitement as Blockchain. Not surprising, though. This breakthrough provides exactly what enterprises and individuals need as our world becomes increasingly digital and distributed: technology that can scale, while providing the necessary security, trust and accountability.

It is a highly disruptive technology that promises to change the way business is conducted, as well as how we all use the Internet. By enabling the digitization of assets, Blockchain is driving a fundamental shift from the Internet of information to the Internet of value, where we can exchange assets instantly.Blockhain session.jpg

If you are as fascinated by Blockchain – its applications, its implications, and its impact - as I am, then you belong at HPE Discover 2017. This premier HPE customer event just happens to offer great opportunities to learn about Blockchain from recognized experts, plus see Blockchain in action in demos on the event floor.

An expert introduction
PwC, one of HPE’s most important global Strategic Alliance partners, has built up an impressive level of experience and expertise in this new technology. In a session titled “Understanding blockchain, revolutionizing trust in an uncertain world,” PwC’s Seamus Cushley will discuss how and why Blockchain-based technology can help revolutionize business practices as we know them. Seamus is a Director at PwC with 15+ years in FinTech. He is focused on two emergent and disruptive forces - FinTech and Digital. This session will be held on Tuesday, June 06 from 09:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in Bellini 2103. It is session B12907 and it is an absolute “must attend” for anyone interested in Blockchain.

Expertise multiplied
Seamus will also serve as one of the experts on a panel discussion titled “Blockchain is coming—practical advice to prepare for the next big industry disruptor.” He will be joined by subject matter experts from HPE, Deloitte, DXC, and r3. A representative from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia will provide a customer/adopter point of view. The focus of the discussion will be on Blockchain’s impact on a range of organizations. Learn what you need to do now to prepare for and take advantage of Blockchain from an infrastructure and technology perspective. This session will be held on Wednesday, June 07 from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. in Veronese 2403. Session is PNL12663.

See what it can do
There will be a number of Demos on Blockchain in the Transformation Zone at Discover. Visit these demos to explore the potential and capabilities of Blockchain. See real-life examples of applied distributed ledger technology using HPE solutions and HPE Pointnext services. For more information, visit the demos titled “Monetizing ‘pay as you go’ services using Blockchain technology” and “Blockchain-enabled cloud storage powered by HPE and Minebox.” Demos are available during Transformation Zone hours.

Add to your knowledge with these sessions
Attend a Discussion Forum (DF12684) that will provide a clear, non-technical introduction to one of the most transformational technologies of our time. If you want to learn about Blockchain technology, how it works, what it can do and how you can benefit, then this forum is for you. It is titled “Exploring Blockchain, a hot yet elusive topic” and will be held on Tuesday, June 06 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Discussion Forum 2.

You will also definitely want to check out the Innovation Session titled “The Blockchain revolution, the ultimate industry disruptor.” This session (IS12925) will cover the implications of Blockchain, representative use cases, common challenges, and how HPE can help you along your Blockchain journey.
