Dynamic Duo: HPE ProLiant Servers + Windows Server 2016 Standard

Windows Server 2016 is available in 3 different version: Windows Server 2016 Essentials, Windows Server 2016 Standard, and Windows Server 2016 Datacenter. With different versions to choose from, you can ensure your customers get exactly what they need for their IT. In last week's blog, we covered Windows Server 2016 Essentials and the HPE ProLiant Gen10 Servers that pair best with this version for your SMB customers. When your SMB customers have IT needs that are growing and require advanced features, support for distributed office locations, and a flexible way to virtualize their IT environment, Windows Server 2016 Standard is a great option.

Today, we will take a look at Windows Server 2016 Standard and recommend a few server pairings for this version. Windows Server 2016 Standard includes the right for two Operating System Environments (OSEs)โ€”or VMsโ€”and alternatively allows for 2 Hyper-V containers when all cores of the server are licensed. For every 2 additional VMs, all cores of the server must be licensed again. In addition, use of Windows Server Containers is unlimited with Standard. Windows Server 2016 Standard allows unlimited user or device access with appropriate User or Device Client Access Licenses (CALs).

For customers looking for a tower server option, we've got two great choices. The HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen10 server delivers a performance that meets the growing needs of the SMB. This single processor, 4.5U server is designed to provide enterprise class features such as redundancy, reliability, and manageability, and delivers the right size Tower with performance and expandability to cover a wide range of applications and workloads. Driving a wide range of workloads with a flexible, shorter, and rackable chassis design that can fit in different physical environments, the secure 2P HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10 Server delivers the ideal set of performance and expandability for changing business needs making it an ideal choice for growing SMBs.

But what about customers who are looking for a rack server option? We've got them covered too with 4 HPE ProLiant Gen10 options. First, the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 server is a dense platform with built-in security and flexibility that addresses key applications such as virtualization and software defined storage (SDS). This secure and versatile single socket (1P) 1U AMD EPYCโ„ข based platform offers an exceptional balance of processor, memory, and I/O for virtualization and intensive workloads. HPE has also released a 2P 2U AMD EPYCโ„ข based platform, the HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 server. With up to 64 cores, up to 32 DIMMs, or 4 TB memory capacity and support for up to 24 NVMe drives, the HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 server delivers a low cost virtual machine (VM) with unprecedented security.

For customers who are interested in HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers that support the Intelยฎ Xeonยฎ Scalable processor with up to a 71% performance gain and 27% increase in cores1, the HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 server (2P 1U chassis) and the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server (2P 2U chassis) are both great options to deliver security, agility, and flexibility without compromise.
