HP works to make IT management as simple as possible and Gen9 servers do a great job continuing this trend. Have you seen HP’s Quick Reference (QR) codes? This feature will benefit not only you, the HP reseller, but also IT staff involved with setting up and maintaining the servers, support staff that needs to service or set up servers on behalf of their customers, and HP support teams who need to quickly locate pertinent information.

So, what exactly are we talking about and how do these Quick Reference Codes work? On each HP ProLiant Gen9 server, you will find a Quick Reference label –either on the top right corner of the server or on the pull out tab. This label will allow you to utilize your smartphone, or other mobile device, to scan a QR code (shown below) that will provide you with a direct link to valuable information about that specific server including setup and installation information, spare parts, maintenance and service, troubleshooting, Quickspecs, and the iLO Mobile App.

And, that’s not all! Scanning the servers’ QR codes also lets you access interactive illustrations of each server. On each server illustration simply tap the part you want more information on and the spare part # will pop up in the description. If you happen to get an error message relating to your Gen9 server the QR code can help you with that too! Simply scan your server’s QR code and click the error message link, then either type in the error code OR the error message and you will be presented with the resolution.

Can’t bring your phone or mobile device in your Data Center? No need to worry, HP conveniently provides the vanity URL for each QR code appearing on the servers. For example, the HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 server’s Quick Reference label will display the vanity URL on the QR code of If you don’t want to scan every server, HP has a solution for that as well with their HP Quick Reference home page,
