HP Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) New Release: SPP 2015.04.0

We are always looking for ways to simplify IT and we bet your SMB customers are too! We love that HP has a solution that helps simplify server maintenance, HP Service Pack for ProLiant, or SPP.

HP Service Pack for ProLiant, is a comprehensive systems software and firmware solution delivered as a bootable ISO. The SPP packages up firmware, drives, agents, and other utilities required to support and maintain HP ProLiant servers and components in HP Servers. This solution uses HP Smart Update Manager (HP SUM) as the deployment tool, and is tested on all HP ProLiant Genx9, Gen8, and earlier servers as defined in the Service Pack for ProLiant Server Support Guide

The newest version of SPP, version 2015.04.0 was released April, 2015 and supersedes SPP 2014.09.0. SPP 2015.04.0 includes added support for:

  • New HP ProLiant servers:
    • HP ML10 v2
    • HP XL730f Gen9
    • HP ML110 Gen9
    • HL XL170r Gen9
    • HP XL190r Gen9
    • HP WS460c Gen9 Graphics Server Blade
  • New HP ProLiant Options
  • HP Smart Update Manager v7.2.0
  • HP USB Key Utility for Windows v2.0.0.0 for downloads greater than 4GB. The HP USB Key Utility is used to copy the SPP onto a portable USB key storage device. Please note that version of the utility is 64-bit only. If the 32-bit application is needed, please use version; however, version will not work on an ISO image greater than 4GB.

SPP 2015.04.0 also includes many new firmware and software components, fixes, and critical updates for your customers’ valuable IT. There are too many updates for us to name them all here, but you can find the complete list in the HP Service Pack for ProLiant 2015.04.0 Release Notes. In the release notes you can also find a list of the operating systems that are supported for system software and firmware support.

Your SMB customers may choose to update to the current SPP from a previous SPP version. This is acceptable as long as the earlier version is within current version’s 12-month support period. This means that customers may directly update their SPP by skipping intermediate releases within the 12-month support period. NOTE: The version number of the release can help your customers determine the end of the support period. For example, if SPP 2014.05.0 were currently installed, support for it would end the last day of June 2015.
