HPE ProLiant Gen9 Rack and Tower Server Overview
The Hewlett Packard Enterprise ProLiant Gen9 Server series gives businesses—of all shapes and sizes—the right compute, for the right workloads, at the right economics, every time! Today we will review a few important details about HPE ProLiant Gen9 Servers.
HPE ProLiant Gen9 Server's naming convention
If you are familiar with the Gen8 server's naming convention, you probably notice that the naming convention for Gen9 are a little different. In the ProLiant Gen8 family, the e(Essential) and p(Performance) designations were assigned to various server models. However, with Gen9, the portfolio has expanded with common Intel architecture and the naming convention now better represents the features and positioning for ProLiant Gen9 servers. The following table shows the transition from Gen8 to Gen9 naming:
To help customers choose the ideal server for their specific needs, the Gen9 rack and tower servers series designations align the design and features of the servers to meet workloads demands, whether they are for small, mid-sized, or enterprise businesses. All HPE ProLiant Gen9 rack and tower servers will fall in either the 10, 100, 300, or 500 series:
- HPE ProLiant 10-series Gen9 servers are designed for SMBs looking for simple, easy to deploy servers for first-time workload deployment
- HPE ProLiant 100-series Gen9 servers deliver right-sized performance, availability, and serviceability that is required by SMBs, enterprise environments, and service providers
- HPE ProLiant 300 and 500-series Gen9 servers offer exceptional flexibility for configuring their compute, storage, networking, and power capabilities, allowing customers to “future-proof” their investments
HPE ProLiant Gen9 tower (ML) servers vs HPE ProLiant Gen9 rack (DL) servers
The ML family of servers delivers simple, efficient, business value.
