HPE and a Kid Named Jack!

A candlestick

I was cleaning off a shelf a few weeks back and came across a nursery story book that I used to read to my kids. Since the book held many memories of bedtime stories, I thumbed through the book and there was one of their favorites about this nimble kid that jumped over candlesticks. Of course, I wanted to know why anyone would jump over a candlestick! Could it be that it was the only source of fun? Well, it turns out that James Orchard Halliwell  first recorded this activity around 1815. Back then,  jumping candlesticks was a considered a form of good luck. I have to admit; I strongly agree that not landing on a burning stick is clearly a good thing!

Recently the rhyme has been going around and round in my head. You know what it’s like when you remember the words to a song and just can’t get them out of your head! Well, that’s me and “Jack be nimble.” And I guess you can quickly work out why! As HPE divests itself of non-core software and managed services, it’s all about making HPE more “nimble” so as to respond to the needs of our customer’s more quickly. According to Meg Whitman, HPE’s CEO, the changes will allow HPE to achieve “the vision of creating a faster-growing, higher-margin, stronger cash flow company well positioned for our customers and for the future”.  Meg’s states that "HPE will double down on the software capabilities that power and differentiate our infrastructure solutions and are critical in a cloud environment.”
