Infographic: HP ProLiant Server name changes Gen8 to Gen9

At the end of August, HP unveiled their latest generation of HP ProLiant servers: Gen9. But here’s something you probably don’t know: For this new generation of HP ProLiant servers, HP has also introduced some new server naming conventions:

  • The Entry Rack and Tower server: will have a two digit series number or 10 series product following the Family (ML, DL) denotation—For example: DL300e servers will transition to DL100 series
  • Existing Performance Rack and Tower servers will retain their naming conventions (300 and 500 series respectively)—For example DL300p servers will transition to DL300 series
  • The MicroServer naming conventions will remain the same
  • The BladeSystem naming conventions will remain the same
