Interview with Ale Rutledge on HPE GreenLake and the Nutanix alliance
Welcome to the first in a series of interviews that will explore the many facets of the HPE GreenLake and Nutanix alliance. Thereโs no better way to start than with alliance manager Ale Rutledge.
A 16-year HPE veteran, Ale joined the OEM & Service Providers Organization at the inception of the Nutanix Alliance in 2019. She led go-to-market programs and then global channel sales and sales enablement prior to her current leadership role.
Q: What is the defining characteristic of the HPE GreenLake and Nutanix partnership?
Ale: We have a laser focus on customer satisfaction. Our customers today face the challenge of achieving data-first modernization in pursuit of digital transformation. The key is finding the right balance of public cloud and on-prem and how to manage it. The answer is HPE GreenLake with Nutanix.
Customers get the performance they need while eliminating overprovisioning. They gain greater visibility into consumption and performance and can access turnkey management services with a fully HPE-managed hybrid cloud solution. Thatโs a great recipe for customer satisfaction.
Q: What is the HPE GreenLake with Nutanix solution?
Ale: We are meeting the challenge of managing an operating model from edge to cloud. HPE GreenLake with Nutanix equals one platform. It is the ideal hyperconverged infrastructure solutionโany app as a service managed from one platform with a hybrid model based on workloads consumed on-demand.
Q: What does HPE GreenLake bring to the solution?
Ale: HPE GreenLake allows customers to scale up and down, consume capacity on demand, easily add more resources, and self-manage. Customers can focus on developing applications and unleashing continuous integration and delivery instead of managing infrastructure and thatโs good for business.
Q: What about security and data protection?
Ale: The full Nutanix cloud platform is built from the ground up with security by design. On the compute side, the HPE Silicon root of trust provides total security for all of our HPE ProLiant DX servers. You can also achieve intelligent business continuity with the enterprise data protection and disaster recovery solutions available with Nutanix HCI.
Q: How would you describe the HPE hardware contribution to the solution?
Ale: HPE ProLiant DX servers power the high-performance turnkey appliance with factory-installed firmware specific for Nutanix environments. This enables a broad portfolio of configurations supporting a wide range of workloads. And with the HPE GreenLake platform, itโs available via consumption-based pricing.
Q: Is consumption-based with the HPE GreenLake platform the only purchase option?
Ale: We deliver freedom of choice. Customers can go with a more traditional capex purchase model if they wish, but if they want to procure combined Nutanix software and hardware in a consumption-based, pay-per-use model, HPE GreenLake is the bestโand onlyโway to do it.
Q: Any final thoughts as we wrap up?
Ale: Iโll end where I beganโwith customer satisfactionโthe focus of the HPE and Nutanix alliance. Enterprises can count on flexible, scalable Nutanix software to run their database services, private cloud, and virtualized desktop infrastructure, while HPE GreenLake with Nutanix transforms IT into a service consumed on-demand. Thatโs a great recipe for customer satisfaction!
