Leonardo and the HPE Way
By Peter Koslowski
It seems like yesterday that SAP announced a new platform for business innovation and a system of intelligence. In fact, it was just earlier this year. Its name? Leonardo, after the legendary polymath of the European Renaissance, Leonardo da Vinci. Its mission? To complement the S/4HANA modern system of records.
HPE endorsed LEONARDO from the day it was born, the same way we provided HP-UX as the first platform for SAPโs R/3 ERP back in the 90โs and enable S/4HANA conversions today. Since LEONARDOโs announcement, we have witnessed a lot of innovation. And the upcoming SAP TechEd is a great opportunity to catch up. I am truly looking forward to this very special exchange with our customers and partners.
Here are just some of the Leonardo-related topics we can explore together:
- Fulfilling DevOps Vision - SAP LEONARDO together with S/4HANA fully embrace Bimodal IT and DevOps visions, disrupting monolithic enterprise architectures. Their roles are fully complementary. S/4HANA delivers the Digital Core concept based on new streamlined data models, overcoming the inherent constraints of relational databases. SAP LEONARDO provides a system for innovation with applications and development tools based on open standards to empower customers to take full advantage of Machine Learning, Blockchain, IoT and other breakthrough technologies using open APIโs.
- Smart Data Anywhere - The proliferation of data, and transformation towards data-driven enterprise, has had a game-changing impact, turning every business into an analytics business and every employee into an analytics user. In addition the amount of data enterprises must manage is almost doubling every year. As a result, businesses need to simplify the complexity of how data is stored, processed and made available. We need โInsight to Actionโ wherever the data lives or โsleepsโ whether it is Digital Core, Data Warehouse, Data Lake or the Edge. SAP calls it โModern Data Managementโ - a platform that provides a single logical view of data and, at the same time, minimizes duplication or moving data from place to place in order to act on it. Modern Data Management enables both S/4HANA ERP system and SAP LEONARDO system of intelligence to address the needs of digital transformation.
- Application Intelligence Anywhere - According to Constellation research: โEnterprises will build more software in the next 10 years than they have in the last 30โ. And according to Gartner: โBy 2020, 75% of Application Purchases Supporting Digital Business will be "Build," Not "Buy" An SAP customer survey also found that: 73% of CEOs see the next 3 years as more critical than the past 50 for their industries, as the pace of adoption has gone from 10 years to as little as a weekโ SAP LEONARDOโs promise is to provide a single platform to augment and automate processes, make the existing applications more intelligent, quickly adopt new game-changing applications and develop solutions to power new business models and disrupt in the respective industries.
Here are a few recommended ways you can learn more about all of this at SAP TechEd 2017 in Las Vegas:
- Join us for the SAP TechEd 2017 HPE Networking Session NET5210 โAccelerating your Digital Innovation โ HPE Best Practiceโ on Tuesday September 26 11:30 am at Networking Session Area 1 on the Show Floor Iโll be giving, which will review how SAP Leonardo technologies from Machine Learning to Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Devices and Analytics enable intelligent applications at the Edge and at the Core.
- If you miss the Networking Session attend the short version of it at the Theater session presented on the following days/times at HPE Booth 300. Tuesday, September 26, 13:00-13:30; Wednesday September 27, 15:30-16:00; and Thursday, September 28, 10:30-11:00
- See our SAP TechEd Showcase demo at HPE Booth 300 featuring how SAP Leonardo Intelligent Services such as Rules Engines, Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning can be deployed anywhere: in private and public clouds, in on-premise data centers, in micro data centers and on edge node, leveraging open container (Docker) and orchestration technology (Kubernetes). And how complex data analysis and automated decision making can be achieved via a pipeline of intelligent services built with SAPโs proprietary Vflow technology.
I look forward to seeing you there. And check out the HPE โ SAP Alliance web site if you want additional information on the powerful solutions we offer.
