READ ME FIRST…Windows Server 2012 Essentials

We have found another perfect match for Windows Server 2012 Datacenter in the HP ProLiant BL660c Gen8 Server Blade.

Why?

There are many reasons: The BL660c Gen8 Server Blade is ideal for virtualization, database, business processing, decision support, high-performance computing, and general 4P data-intensive applications where fine-tuning of data center space and price versus performance are important.

These workloads are certified for WS2012 Datacenter edition running perfectly on it, and they are fully supported by HP. Take into account that licensing for Datacenter will continue to be processor plus CALs. However, with the release of Windows Server 2012, the license will now cover up to two physical processors on a single server with unlimited Virtual Machines.

Now, let’s jump into the key features of this server blade and the value it delivers to customers.

A key overall feature of the BL660c Gen8 is its product design approach. With the BL660c Gen8, HP did not focus on just simply maximizing say DIMMs slots and/or hard drive capacity, which often leads to configuration restrictions resulting in performance issues and limitations, added costs, and/or larger form factors decreasing server density. Instead, with a considerable amount of customer research, HP looked at the entire server to provide an overall balanced and mature design from processors, memory, storage, I/O, and management.

In the ProLiant BL660c Gen8 you will find a server without configuration restrictions or too large of a form factor, without compromising on performance, scalability, and expandability.

Another key feature in the ProLiant BL660c Gen8 is a new density-optimized server blade, meaning it now provides 4P processing in half the density of the previous generation 4P Intel based server blade.

The ProLiant BL660c Gen8 provides Automated Energy Optimization for increased workload improvement across the data center for highly-virtualized private cloud environments and is perfect for environments running Windows Server 2012 Datacenter, which will entitle you an unlimited number of VMs on up to two processors.

Finally, this new server offers the new embedded HP iLO Management Engine providing a highly configurable management system to eliminate tedious, time-consuming tasks.
