Reimagining work made quick and easy: Imagine that.
What a difference. Only a few months ago, remote workers were the exception rather than the rule. Now, thatโs all been reversed. How well you are able to provide this large and still-growing portion of your workforce with the tools that ensure office-like productivity and efficiency often means the difference between taking a hit during these strange times and hitting it out of the park with continued growth and success.
Luckily, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions can bring the office to remote workers no matter where they are located. Even luckier, HPE and VMware offer performance-proven VDI solutions that make it fast and easy for you to respond to the requirements of a remote workforce, while also helping your enterprise grow and thrive. As a Global Diamond sponsor of VMworld 2020, HPE will provide a number of opportunities for you to learn all about reimagining work at this virtual event. Weโll offer content you can use now and encourage you to register for the event today.
Better reimagining depends on two simple questions/answers
The first Is REALLY simple: will it work? Most VDI solutions are made up of technology from two or more companies. Each part of the solution has typically been proven to work โ and work well โ by itself. But how well will each one work with the others? This is where an 18-year alliance like the HPE โ VMware one becomes invaluable. We have an established track record of working closely together to develop and test the solutions we offer you to ensure that they deliver superior performance and results. In the case of our joint VDI solution, we have recently released a Reference Architecture (RA) that provides architectural guidance for deploying and managing VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) on HPE Synergy with GPU acceleration for Horizon 7 Client Virtualization. It shows you exactly what to expect from the solution and how to obtain optimum results from it.
The fundamental building blocks of this RA are a suite of core HPE technologies with VMware software layered on in order to create the foundation for a robust solution. The solution includes HPE Synergy, a single intelligent composable infrastructure, that transforms rigid physical systems to flexible virtual resource pools so all resources are instantly available to run the VDI infrastructure.
HPE Synergy lets IT administrators and developers use infrastructure as code to deploy and manage their data center environments. HPE Synergy Composer that houses HPE OneView provides precise composed logical infrastructures enabling administrators to provision, control, and manage software-defined data center components. HPE OneView is the infrastructure automation engine built with software intelligence which streamlines provisioning and lifecycle management across compute, storage and fabric resources in the Synergy System. This new approach for composable infrastructure combines true stateless computing with rapid deployment and updates.
As customers leverage VCF to provide integrated software-defined data center (SDDC) and cloud management services for running enterprise applications, it becomes critical to rely on an underlying platform that allows quick deployment of IT resources at scale and one that provides fluid pools of compute, storage and fabric resources to build a virtualized data center. HPE Synergy combined with VCF delivers a secure enterprise-ready private cloud that is flexible, simple to deploy and cost efficient, with benefits/capabilities that include:
- Cost-effective and simplified management for faster time to value from a deployment and lifecycle perspective by combining HPE Synergy with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
- An easy-to-operate VDI solution and delivery of an end-user computing experience to meet your growing expectations
- A tested and tuned solution architecture that offers optimal performance for deploying VCF and the ability to run graphics intensive multi-media workloads with linear scaling across the worker nodes.
- Flexible access to compute, storage, and fabric resources that allows for use and repurposing.
- The linking of multiple HPE Synergy Frames for efficiently scaling the infrastructure with a dedicated single view of the entire management network
- Successfully run multimedia workloads as defined by Login VSI, in order to showcase an SDDC solution with the latest advancements in HPE composable infrastructure and client virtualization technologies.
- Faster VDI deployment reducing deployment cycle from days to hours for VMware Cloud Foundation on HPE Synergy with GPU acceleration for Horizon 7 client virtualization
Um, and the second question/answer?
Right! This one deals with the reality that workers will be going back and forth between office and remote sites for quite some time to come. In other words, the number of people in one place or the other will never be a constant. So will the VDI solution you select be flexible and scalable enough to evolve with the realities of your enterprise?
If the solution is from HPE and VMware, it will. HPE makes available an as-a-service approach through HPE GreenLake that provides the benefits of on-premises security and performance with the flexibility and simplicity of the cloud. Its simplified design, migration and management leverages deep VDI expertise and tools, while the services included in the approach let you meter, monitor, and manage capacity ahead of demand. This is an approach that easily:
- Supports a wide range of user requirements
- Aligns costs to users, since you pay per desktop
- Moves fast without the heavy upfront cost
- Scales seamlessly โ up or down โ in response to rapidly-changing realities
Do you have any questions for us?
If you do, we invite you to join us at VMworld 2020 and discuss them with the HPE Subject Matter Experts who will be available throughout the event. You can also attend an HPE session titled: โAdapting Your Business for Digital Working with HPE and VMware.โ This is a 20-minute recorded session with live Q&A that will show you how to quickly and securely move to fully digital workplaces, located anywhere, delivered as a service. It is scheduled for the following dates/times:
- AMERICAS - September 29, 2020; 15:00 - 15:24 PDT
- APAC - September 30, 2020; 12 Noon - 12:30 PM SGT
- EMEA - September 30, 2020; 16:00 - 16:24 CEST
