SUSE and HPE extend partnership to expand HPE GreenLake Cloud Services
HPE and SUSEโputting the edge in edge-to-cloud
By Vinay Saxena
Hewlett Packard Enterprise and SUSE are passionate about listening to customers and turning problems into decisive product solutions. Solutions that disrupt and create competitive advantages, drive incremental revenue, and establish knowledge leadership for organizations. Weโre passionate about building collaborative success cultures and now we have expanded our 25+ year relationship with a partnership initiative at the edge.
Distributed cloud experience
As bandwidth cost and availability lag behind data growth, customers must increasingly embrace a distributed cloud platform. The need to rapidly process very large data streams across the distributed enterprise demands that data, AI, and deep learning be managed in-place at each edge location. No one can afford the time to move data from the edge to the cloud or data center and back again. HPE GreenLake is the leading distributed operating platform from edge to cloud and the most secure platform for IT to deliver a distributed cloud experience.
New levels of agility, data accessibility, and security
HPE and SUSE are ready to unlock new levels of business agility, data accessibility, and security at the distributed enterprise edge on a global scale. Our expanded partnership provides HPE GreenLake workload and data life-cycle management with SUSE Linux Enterprise Micro and SUSE Rancher with K3s for production workloads in unattended, resource-constrained, remote locations or inside IoT appliances.
As noted by Dr. Thomas Di Giacomo, SUSE Chief Technology and Product Officer, in SUSEโs press release, todayโs โHPE delivers a powerful edge-to-core-to-cloud solution with HPE GreenLake and SUSE is working closely with HPE to make it dramatically easier for customers to build a distributed application for the edge.โ
Global management as a service
HPE GreenLake is the only distributed cloud stack available as one uniform solution; delivering networking, compute, storage, data management, workload orchestration, and AI supportโwith security embedded in every layer. Customers are now able to leverage HPE GreenLake to deploy large edge-driven container workloads with global management as a service.
Deploy everywhere and manage as one
Companies running HPE GreenLake can deploy a cloud-native environment from the data center to the edge, with a single, completely secure operating system across the landscape.
Using HPE Project Aurora and SUSE Rancher provides a lighter stack at edge locations and enables fleet management of very large edge estates. HPE GreenLake distributed cloud architecture enables customers to reach the next level of operational efficiency with the ability to deploy everywhere and manage as one.
Edge-tailored application environment
With HPE managing their distributed infrastructure, customers can focus their energy on their business-critical edge applications. Only trusted and verified software and applications are loaded and executed, making edge infrastructure possible. HPE customers are able to get the same support for their SUSE solutions as they do for their HPE solutions via HPE Pointnext.
Released and ready
SUSE Rancher and K3s are already released and mature products with early adopters of the combined HPE SUSE stack finding success. One example of that is Carestream, a leading global provider of medical imaging systems. With HPE and SUSE, they have enabled a scalable, future-proof AIaaS platform to develop, deploy, monitor, and support AI models served to Carestreamโs edge imaging systems.
